As part of a larger package I'm building, I recently put together a system that uses cultural evolutionary systems and CAs together to provide generalized multi-variable optimization functionality.

I’ll be adding additional features to this, but the current version does pretty well with sample travelling salesman problems—and this is a generalized search/optimization algorithm, with no specific knowledge of the TSP.
