Doesn't this picture show something kindof like what people mean sometimes when they say "parallel universe", or "another dimension", in the sense that there might be, say, spirits moving through us that we just can't see or feel, in the sense that there could be overlapping/intersecting worlds where because of our perceptive systems we are "right on top of each other" but we can't sense each other, or our ability to sense each other is limited, and the form for the points at which we intersect is limited?
If the two universes don't affect each other in any spacial sense, then it doesn't really mean anything to say that they are 'right on top of each other'. For example, imagine if you had two cellular automaton simulations running. First you put them in two small windows side by side on your screen, then you put them in two big windows of which one is in front of the other so that if you could see partly through it then the two cellular automata would intersect. Does this second configuration make the two simulations any more 'on top of each other' than the first one, from the point of view of someone in the simulation? No, they still remain spacially separate.
I'm not sure how easy my point is to understand, but anyway that's the reason I find this whole thing about parallel universes existing 'in the same place' somewhat pointless.
