A small comment on the rule that generates the idealized gas model on p.446.

As the caption says, the rule on diagonal blocks is

{{1,0},
{0,1}}
->
{{0,1},
{1,0}}
(and the reverse).

In all other cases, each block undergoes a double flip along both diagonals

{{a , b},
{c, d}}
->
{{d , c},
{b, a}}
