.... thinking somewhat outside the cigarette box:

if I remove myself from a system in a way in which I still had info on it but did not actually affect it..... THEN, from my perspective, to distinguish between discrete and continuous is pointless.... (oh i should say here that at this stage, I know everything that happens in the past, present, and future of that system- in an instant kind of way).....

we say there is a big difference between discrete and continuous blah blah ... but it can only make a difference to we who are stuck in the system..... or we who are bound by time.

so, i ask: is not there some possibility (even a small cigarette butt of a possibility) that it does not make a difference at all and that discrete and continuous systems are really the same thing?

PS: I dont smoke...
PSS: Please dont blow any smoke on this! (sorry i couldnt resist)

I have been saying this on the message board for about a year now, but I go several steps further. We are not only bound by time, but space and matter as well.

If we create a model of the universe, the model will exist in space and time with matter. If we truly wish to model the universe, we must ignore the space, time, and matter that exists outside the model, and require that the model itself produces its own unique space, time and matter.

I've taken this idea and developed a hypothesis around it that makes testable predictions about the unique implications of this idea about the space, time, and matter in and around a black hole.

You can take a look at it here:
