i found some curious forms generated form 2d cellular automaton. initial condition of every form is only 1 dot. i think it is a new kind of minimal art:-)

You can use photoshop to generate some 2d forms using a single initial pixel. You have to zoom in to see what you are doing. Anyway, just create a new image with white background. Use the pencil tool to draw one black pixel in the middle of the image. Now, apply the "find edge" filter. Use Find Edge filter again, and again,... and again.... you can get many nice forms. Of course these are all symmetric about the initial point.
One thing you will notice when you do this: it always gives you the output of Rule 90 (when using only 2 colors).
