hi --
I am pleased to report that an official 'RFD' (Request For Discussion) has been posted at news.announce.newgroups, for a newsgroup entitled 'sci.physics.discrete'. A copy of the RFD can
be viewed here:
http://www.uvv.org/cgi-bin/getmsg/2529
the followup discussion should occur at the newsgroup news.groups:
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=n...&oe=UTF-8&hl=en
under the thread 'sci.physics.discrete moderated'.
The proponents of this newsgroup include myself, Ed Fredkin, and Plamen Petrov. Our hope is that a usenet forum will expand the scope of discussions on this subject, and also provide an archive for posterity.
The next step, as explained in the RFD, will be a 'CFV', or Call For Votes. We will need at least 150-200 'yes' votes, so it is important that everyone who is interested vote, and encourage anyone you know who may also be interested to vote as well.
The CFV will be posted in the newsgroup
news.announce.newgroups; it will also be available at
http://www.uvv.org/nan.html under the
heading 'Current CFVs (Call For Votes)'.
It would be beneficial if anyone with an interest (or objection) to this proposed newsgroup post their opinions to news.groups. The easiest way to do that is to register at
groups.google.com.
Thank you.
