Wasn't the original idea of NKS to probe mathematical theory for a connection to Quantum Gravity? Or am I completely wrong? When I looked at the site (I haven't read any of the books) that's what I first thought.
Nevertheless, I heard you could create a 4D lattice, then if you use a random walk, you can create lorentz symmetry. It was something like, you took the sum of the number of horizontal (space) steps and the difference of the number of vertical (time) steps, you get lorentz symmetry.
I think it was add 1 to the counter if you move horizontally and subtract 1 from the counter if you move vertically. The counter measures how much you move. Different shades are drawn in depending on where the counter is when you reach a certain point in the lattice. Zero, the trivial case, makes a cone.
I like the idea that lorentz symmetry is an emergent, not built in, property of a system that occurs naturally. This makes a lot more sense, and could explain why + is circular and - is right hyperbolic. By right hyperbolic I mean the asymptotes form a 90 degree (or pi/2 radian) angle. However, I'm still stumped as to why to distinguish horizontal from vertical.
At any rate, I hope to hear from some of you about this. I know maybe I acted like a bit of a jerk earlier, but please hear me out. I have quite a few ideas. If anyone wants to hear them, just ask me on this forum. I am pretty sure I am going to come here more often, so I will look at the reply.

I have a question.
This is regarding how CA's help us in understanding our universe.
First of all, what is the parallel of a Node in the real world. IS the node a fundamental entity in universe?
Or is it just a representation of any singularity, could be a human or an ant or
a photon depending on the system observed. or a wave function?
There is one particular program in nature which is fixed and that is, if the net energy of a system is greater than 0, take necessary actions to bring it back to zero.
This is what causes cyclic loops in the universe and things are prevented from going overboard.
I have not seen a single node behaving in a cyclic or wave manner in any CA so far. Though we have seen groups of nodes behaving like that but not a single node.
We see a repetition of a collective form but one particular nod is always deciding its position according to surrounding nodes and not based on its own state in a previous instance of time.
But in real universe, particles define their behaviour not just from surrounding information but from information from its own past, their own previous instance of states in time.
And what about superpositioning of two nodes in the same space which is an observed phenomenon in the microscopic world, how does CA's explain that?
